Ah Parenthood. The happy moments, the milestones, and...the Meltdowns! Offered this Spring! Grumpy PARENTS Story Camp. Six evening classes.
The Joys of parenthood and the wisdom gleaned from this magical experience are limitless.
Seriously.
There is no end to what can be learned, celebrated, laughed at and puzzled over when raising children.
While I am grateful for this opportunity for 'character building' 24/7, I have had to dig deep and figure out tricks in order to (1) remember when my child made the huge developmental leaps, (2) stay coherent and productive when I am so tired I can't remember my name or where I put the clean laundry, (3) help my child through some of the tough and morally craggy lessons with custom made stories, and (4) laugh and myself and MOVE ON.
I have been teaching kids( through art, theater, French, English) about the importance of stories, communication and finding their voice but then, one day, I had a brainstorm to work with YOU, the parents, on those ideas. Because, as earlier stated, the stories about our kids and families are endless.
**Grumpy Parents Story Camp**
Here is a new class offered for six Monday evenings in the Spring(April 19 through May 24th. 7pm to 9pm)
Two weeks on Stories for kids: we will work on stories for our own kids that tackle some of the pressing and current issues of their( and your) lives folding it into a captivating narrative whose themes and morals will not bonk anyone over the head with salient details unique to your child.
Two weeks on Calendar/Journals of kid quotes, milestones and photos: We will figure out how you best keep a record and memorialize all the ridiculous and sublime events, sayings and controversies of your children's lives. (Personal note: I am so glad I kept a calender because I can barely tell you how much my child weighed at birth.)
Two weeks on writing down and telling the most madcap and most surprising moments of parenting: There is no way around this being fun. Of course, sharing is optional. It will be great to write things down and you can always go back and read these when you are having a blue day.
$132.00 for the six week series
$30 for a drop-in.
Scholarships are available.
**All writing supplies and some snacks provided.
* For my East Bay peeps: If we can wrangle enough of a crowd,( say six people) and one of you could possibly host, I could swing something on Wednesday evenings.
**Hope you see all of you, grumpy but charming and devoted parents, soon!
