With Eleanor Scott

Hello everyone,

I have a few openings in my summer schedule. I am happy to host at my house (in the Richmond in SF) and or I can come to your house.

I will go on a first come first serve basis. So, if you are interested, drop a line at elscott20@yahoo.com

Days/Weeks available:

June 20-24.

June 27-July 1

July 12-15 9-12:30pm

July 18-22 9-12:30pm

Grumpy Pirates: pre-K through 8th grade classes in storytelling, writing, theater andArt (The curriculum is dependent on the ages, make up and interests of the group.)

Grumpy Pirates are a creative, energized series of classes that include writing, improvisation, art exploration and trust games. The primary objectives are to learn how to listen to and tell good stories, to boost confidence and to make new friends. Simultaneously, we sneak in some academic study of writing composition, public speaking and collaboration. But, we keep that on the down low lest it starts to feel a bit too much like …s-c-h-o-o-l.

Given the time, space and the correct mix of engaging projects and pedagogy, all students, no matter the age, can find their own voice and express it beautifully.

Please scroll down this blog to find a description of a typical day at Story Camp.

Build your own class or camp: If your child/children have a group of friends with similar interests, and you can find a common time that works with my availability, I am happy to either host or come to your house for a series of classes.

Example idea: Along with some fun creative writing and improv, we could fold in a casual book group reading a summer reading book together.

** For a three hour(9-12noon) five day camp prices are $300 sliding scale to $200. As always, scholarships are available**

New Class! GP Art and Artists(ages 5-6) Saturdays in June and July: 2:30-4. We will study artists and make some art inspired by the artist of the day. $20 for a single class. $72 for a series of four classes. Sliding scale and scholarships available.

NEW Class! Star Wars Art and Jedi class for ages 5-7

Wednesdays 3:30-5pm $20 per class $72 for a four pack.

This class will include drawing, painting and sculpture that draws inspiration from the captivating images of the Star Wars movies. Along with studying the visual inspirations, there will be role-playing. We will also go over the tenants of the Jedi teachings and find ways to act as Jedis in our everyday life. And, most likely, enter into some interesting discussions about why people go over to the dark side.

There is nothing better than a good story. A well-crafted narrative incites, inspires, teaches, models, integrates, opens, emboldens, elucidates, illustrates, excites and calms. By telling and listening to real and imagined stories, we see our world and ourselves more clearly. Well-told stories are bridges to other realities. These new perspectives teach us compassion. In studying and practicing how to record and then share a story effectively, we learn to listen better. We learn about the nature of things. We learn that laughter cures many ills. We learn how it is to walk in another person’s shoes. We learn.

BTW:

Bay area Theater & Writing

Creativity and communication workshops for teens, parents and adults.

For teens, BTW gives techniques of improvisation, acting, and creative writing to help navigate the tumultuous, hilarious and harrowing transitional journey from kid to adult.

For adults and parents, who-let’s face it-are all basically adolescents in grown up bodies (with, possibly, better clothes…) BTW offers corporations and business teams new methods to generate ideas and to jump start new projects. Listen, tell, write, build, experiment, create, launch. While improvisation might feel like a rarified and not to mention way too artsy for the business world, its tenants, if studied and practiced thoroughly will ameliorate communications at all levels and therefore-bottom line-A increase revenue.

Clean Slate Parenting 1 3/2/16 We begin. The art of clean slate parenting. The other day my son, André, who is nearly 10 years old, and I were talking about growth mindset vs fixed mindset. (Many thanks to Carol Dweck for her visionary book, “Mindset”.)  I asked if he felt like he had a fixed mindset for any of his subjects in school. Because, I told  him, I had a fixed mindset about other things (housekeeping, some yoga poses, zumba, earning money ) and I had a growth mindset about some things (parenting, sculpture, meditation, performing).  We agreed that some parts of our life are bathed in the light of growth mindset and that  some parts that were clamped down by a fixed mindset. If you have a growth mindset, you see failures as opportunities  to learn and grow as opposed to final judgments about your character. If you have a fixed mindset, when you fail you have proved to the world that you are a sham and not worth anything.  They are teaching the 4th an

Scene from "Charming Girl No More"

Here is the first scene in part II of "Charming Girl No More." We meet the brilliant but angry Alba Ayfray, director of the Bureau of Safety, who searches for a way to chemical alter woman's minds so they stop making 'bad' decisions. But Alba is interrupted by her co-direct Hugo Purr who has some bad news. Part II: The Underground Alba in her Lab Alba looked up from her microscope.      “What do you mean, ’compromised?’” she said, making a excruciating squeak as she pushed her metal stool back from her lab bench.      “Uh. Well. It s-seems someone got inside it,” Hugo said, looking at his loafers.      “Someone got inside the Dark Room?”      “They are out. They are out. Now,” Hugo put his hands up, fingers splayed in front of him as if to ward off an aggressive force coming at him. Hugo didn’t know where to look. He wanted to avoid seeing the dark, sleepy shapes that seemed to be whimpering quietly on the cots behind Alba’s workbench. Hugo caught a
